53% Rise in Golestan Exports

A total of 35,565 tons of goods worth $17.64 million were exported from Golestan Province’s customs terminals in the first month of the current fiscal year (March 21-April 20), registering a 53% growth in terms of value year-on-year, according to a local official.

Iodine, cheese, polystyrene, cement and ceramic tiles were the most important exported products and Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Iraq and Afghanistan were the main destinations, Ebrahim Hosseini was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

A total of 1,254 tons of goods worth $1.45 million were imported from the province’s Inche Borun custom terminal during the same period.

Raw materials, fabrics and soybean oilseeds were the most important products imported from Turkey, Turkmenistan, China, India and Kazakhstan.

Hosseini noted that 2,219 tons of foreign goods worth $4.44 million were transited through Golestan during the period, registering a 67% and 184% growth in terms of weight and value, respectively.
